Business Development Manager / Project Developer Solar PV -  full-time role, Mexico competitive base salary up to 1,200,000MXN gross per annum

The opportunity and the company 

This is a great opportunity to drive forward the development of utility scale solar PV projects in Mexico.

You’ll represent one of Europe’s most respected project development and systems integration companies, currently building on their great track record of success in renewable energy projects in LatAM.

Your main task will be to proactively develop the company’s PV business in Mexico both for project development opportunities and EPC contracts. The company has already enjoyed much success in Mexico solar PV auctions and is building its capacity and team in country.

About you
 
You are a highly motivated self-starter with a proven track record in project development within Mexico international sales within the renewable energy sector, with a main focus on solar PV projects.
 
You are very confident in your communication and negotiations skills, as liaison with third parties – subcontractors, co-development partners and in-country team – will be essential.

Key Activities:
  • Finding technically and commercially attractive PV opportunities in Mexico (development and EPC opportunities)
  • Identifying and qualifying co-development and investor partners
  • Working with the Mexican and London teams to develop utility scale projects in the country as a source of development and EPC profits
  • Working closely and negotiating with land agents, land owners, third party consulting companies and central and local Government authorities to secure exclusivities, lease options, grid connections, EIA/SIA, construction permits and technical site surveys
  • Supporting local marketing events
  • Creating commercial and technical proposals for customers and investors
  • Periodically reporting on project pipeline and forecast in the company CRM system
  • Reporting and recording on policy and legislation developments
  • Understanding country requirements re: local content, tax and other barriers to entry. Finding solutions to overcome these barriers.
  • Negotiating EPC contracts with investor partners/customers
  • Delivering the annual revenue and margin budget
  • Local and some international travel 
Skills (including Specialist Skills)/ Experience / Attributes
  • Proven track record in high value high tech international sales
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Good knowledge of the project development process
  • Contract negotiation (co-development, lease/options, EPC and O+M)
  • Strong initiative and creative thinking
  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Ability to work individually and as a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Managing development budget
  • Proven track record of delivering/exceeding revenue and margin targets
  • Strong networking capability
  • Existing relationships with investors, central Gov and local authorities, other project developers, supply chain partners
  • Understanding of PV and competing technologies
  • Understanding and use of financial modelling
  • Willingness to travel extensively 
Remuneration: 

A competitive base salary up to 1,200,000 MXN will be offered to the right candidate.
