Overview 
The STA is the most influential UK solar trade body with an exceptional and proven track record of winning breakthroughs for the UK’s solar industry. We represent the solar photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal and energy storage industries. 
We are looking for a bright and efficient Events, Membership and Communications administrator to support the STA team and membership. This is an exceptional opportunity to work at the heart of the UK solar industry, gain a real understanding of the sector and develop a range of skills including office management, communications and event organisation. Applicants must be able to be highly organised in a fast-paced environment and apply their talents across a wide range of functions, working within a small and committed team. This is an exciting role for someone who shares our passion to see solar move into the mainstream of energy generation in the UK.
Duties & Responsibilities 
1. Organising and promoting events and regular STA meetings 
2. New membership recruitment and member retention assistance & systems management 
3. Supporting internal and external communications activities including media activities 
4. Administrating weekly members newsletters and other updates 
5. Member, media and stakeholder database management & maintenance 
6. Subscriptions, invoicing, expenses 
7. Website administration 
8. Fielding enquiries from members, stakeholders and the general public 
9. General office management 
10. Supporting the STA team and CEO as required 
11. Ad hoc research and other miscellaneous duties as required 
Skills & Qualifications 
Essential 
  • Excellent written, spoken and interpersonal skills 
  • Completer-finisher with excellent organisational and time management skills 
  • Confident telephone style 
  • Highly motivated self-starter 
  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure against tight deadlines 
  • Listening skills and an ability to empathise 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes 
  • Database management skills 
  • Flexible, adaptable and motivated – a team player 
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in the solar industry 
 
Desirable 
  • Numeracy skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or a CRM system 
  • Ability to critique and improve systems 
  • Social media and website management skills, including Wordpress. 
  • Design and desktop publishing 
  • Previous office-based work experience, especially in membership or events organisations 
  • Willingness for occasional travel within the UK and attend events 
FUNCTION 
To support the STA on membership, events, communications and general office administration. 
LOCATION 
STA offices in Greencoat House, 15 Francis Street, SW1P 1DH 
SALARY & BENEFITS 
£21-24k per annum (dependent on skills and experience), 2% pension contribution.
