Development Project Manager – Battery Storage (grid connected systems) £55,000 - £80,000 p.a pro rata (3 month rolling contract initially)
The company is a new entity formed by experienced partners with an outstanding pedigree in the financing and development of infrastructure development projects.
The firm has already acquired a significant portfolio of grid connected battery storage projects and is targeting the further development of a pipeline that will give them 100MW + of operating assets.
Amongst other advantages, the firm’s major shareholder owns a portfolio of land hosting a large number of electricity sub stations, representing good potential for co-located battery storage facilities.
The company will operate a lean structure and have identified an immediate requirement for a high calibre project development manager to assist with all aspects of the development cycle, but with particular emphasis on initial project evaluation, grid connectivity and planning consent.
We’re specifically looking for someone who is able to negotiate with and manage the relationships with DNOs and assist the company’s management with the prioritisation of a large pipeline of projects.
Beyond this, the role may extend into project management of the construction / commissioning phase and potentially management of the operational assets, so there’s lots of scope (hence a wide remuneration range ).
It's likely the role will be offered initially on a three month rolling contract but could develop into a permanent role.
You’re an experienced project development professional with a broad skill set - strong technical affinity combined with commercial nous and a tenacious mentality.
You’re comfortable working with project origination, negotiating grid connectivity, contract negotiation, planning consenting and have the skills to successfully navigate complex project development challenges and deliver successfully.
It’s very likely you have worked for a project development firm focussed on grid connected utility scale energy generation projects or embedded generation projects for the capacity market.
If you’ve also working through construction/commission and operations management then that’s really useful too.
- Professional experience as a business developer, project developer or project manager – the broader the experience the better.
- Grid connected energy project development expertise.
- Solid experience negotiating with grid operators / DNOs.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, plus tech and commercially savvy.
- Strong organisation skills and good attention to detail
- Knowledge of the UK renewable landscape including government tariffs and planning regimes.
- Ability to work in the HQ in London (from time to time) and extensively on site through the UK.
A competitive remuneration package is available, based on quality and range of experience c. £55,000 - £80,000.
The role is likely to be offered initially on a consulting contact, probably three months rolling, but there is a good opportunity for permanent employment if desired.
This is an urgent role so preference will be given to applicants who are available to start immediately, or within one month, but if you have the requisite skills, please apply regardless.
